Found this recently:
Nihei Tsutomu and the Poetics of Space: Notes Toward a Cyberpunk Ecology by Keith Leslie Johnson. (Is he on this board?)

intrsting.. spoiler alert though, fuck.
i merely enjoy his works as gorgeously drawn and -with exception to knights of cydonia- difficult to understand manga which are really fun to look at and read, and most of the time were spent to figure out wtf is going on. i still don't get biomega. and although i clearly see the massive architectural/biological/mechanical/technological/social/psychological stuff he put in his works, i only think about how cool it is and never put too much thought about it because i'm a lazy dumb idiot.
any great work you love be it music/movies/comics/manga/anime/games/watever, you see it in your own way and it will change as time goes on what with life experience or study new things, and people with different background would see it quite differently. they'd point several influences or some elements you've never heard or thought of.
i'd like to read other takes on nihei's works from other point of views.

Amazing. Thanks for sharing!
I personally have never analyzed Nihei's work in great details, but the worlds he creates in his manga always fascinate me.
