In BLAME! volume 3 page 114, killy realizes what the safeguard insignia means. This apparently has something to do with his awakened powers, but what exactly? I've been exploring the safeguard as it is, but their concave, eye inscribed pentagonal symbol has confounded me. Does it only mark the breeding (?) facilities of the safeguards? Follow up question: Were the Safeguards and Governors made by the same entity? Their builds are similar, and the insignias on their heads are similar. Could it be possible that a company made a line of safeguards and then, realizing their mistake perhaps, created the governors to stop them, or at least mitigate the damage they caused? Any theories would be much appreciated. Edit: On second thought, I have another question: What is body compound? It seems to turn humans into safeguards (vol 3 page 143), are there any clues to its makeup or history? Actually, that makes me think: are safeguards also cyborgs, or are they completely silicon? It wouldn't make sense to "convert" a body if there was no practical benefit to it. |

Are you talking about a safeguard breeding-facility? Are you sure, it's not a Silicon breeder? |

Well, near the beginning, when killy detects the safeguard symbol with his binoculars, inside is breeding, food, and a defence turret. I believe these are of safeguard origin, as I believe safeguards are found near these symbols later, but I'm not too sure. Why would there be a silicon life breeding center? |
