This is just a question. I'm not saying that I will do it right away. But I would like to know if anybody would be interested?

I'm thinking about makeing a solid pure plastic replica of the GBE.

Like lets say... this klingon disruptor.

If there is enough interest I might make one and just sell em in small quantities to BLAME fans.

Since there are no logos on it and its a pretty generic design I doubt anybody would sue me for that. I'm also talking about very small quantities. Under 70 pieces.

Posted this in fanart first. But I think this place would be better to ask.

I really want one! Knowing your amazing skill with plastic, it'll definitely be great! However, I'm running a bit low on funds now, so 10 euros would be good... if I can even pay that...

It would purely up to the fidelity of the replica wouldn't it?

That said, for an accurate design I would be willing to fork out the dough.

Let's say I would try my best to copy it exactly.

I am currently playing around with the proportions of the thing.

in the comic its actually quite short and bulky. This version looks more like a normal handgun. I actually like it better like this.

Personally I prefer the compact proportions of the Manga.

I am damned particular about the dimensions and scale of the GBE. It has to be perfect.

not even Nihei was consistent with the proportions, how can you expect a replica to be consistent?

I have a history with firearms, there are certain considerations to the ergonomics and design untowards handguns that I make in regards to the GBE.

Personally, and I stress this as a personal preference; I think the mid series (between issue 20-40) GBE is the most aesthetically pleasing.

As the series moved past there, the cowling beneath the main receiver grew longer and longer and the trigger housing became flat instead of flared.

Issue 52 probably has the best silhouette of the grip outside of the artbook proportions.

We also know that the receiver sits forward of the pistol grip more like a revolver instead of a pistol from the position of the rearmost receiver portion in relation to the hand.

In relation to Killy's hand (lets pretend for a minute that Killy is a 6 foot tall individual.) in issue 52 page 18 the distance between Killy's first knuckle to the tip of his index finger is 2/3rds the length of the receiver. Which translates to and OAL (overall length) of 16-17 centimeters at the receiver portion.

To allow clearance for the trigger guard that means it needs to start at very least at the halfway mark of the receiver no less.

In any case, more often than not if you look through the whole series and compare the size of the GBE in relationship to the size of Killy's hand you will see that the GBE is a very very small gun.

Just as I said, just playing around.

@ShakKen
I really thank you for yor input, in the end I want to please a broad spectrum of "customers". First thing ill do is just print a lot of proportion tests on paper and do wood models before I sculpt the whole thing. No cat in the bag.

Btw... I'm a collector of WW2 Uniforms and equipment which in the end means I do have my fair share of gun knowledge. Smile

Go for it man, you can't please everyone Wink

If it's a nice model I'd actually be up for buying several unpainted.

Hell to the yeah I would. 10 euros is a good price. I'd even buy it for 20 euros if it wasn't for the expensive shipping charges.

Any update on this ? I would be pretty keen to get one if the price is good Smile

I made one a year or so ago when I cosplayed Killy. Not a very accurate design, but I guess part of the beuty of Blame! is that the Characters and their design are different (but quite similar) in each eppisode of the manga.

I'm still thinking of finishing this. The problem is that I'm just outta the hospital. Can't really work with my fingers right now and am half blind. So it might take a while.
